There are many ways to tell if you need a roof, but there are some things that you may not think of. Here is a list of things to consider and questions to ask yourself when deciding if you need a new roof.
Hail isn’t the only thing to worry about with roof damage. With recent storms falling debris from trees and other flying objects can cause problems. If the roof isn’t that old (typically 20-25 years) it may need a repair instead of a replacement. An inspection from a professional roofer is your best option to know for sure.
Extreme temperature changes add to the age of your roof. Visually how does the roof look? Are the shingles flat? Are the shingles all the same color?
Have you lived in your home for at least 20 years and have never had a repair or replacement, it’s time for an inspection.
If you have a chimney, can you tell the condition the base is in? Depending on what it’s sealed with, it may be time to check it during an inspection to make sure it is sealed as well.
